Description:
Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. We are looking to appoint a confident, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking educator to support delivery of our Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP) Programme at the University of Plymouth. The ACCP programme commenced at University of Plymouth in 2015, adding to the extensive profile of advanced practice provision that included the MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Clinical Practitioner) and the Surgical Care Practitioner programmes. The programme started with a postgraduate diploma, developed to a full MSc, and is directly aligned to the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) ACCP curriculum developed in 2015, and are currently the only HEI to be fully accredited by both FICM and the Centre for Advancing Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the delivery of advanced practice learning, contributing to the academic and clinical development of our students, in a small programme team within an innovative school. You will also have opportunity to contribute to research within the school through one of many research active groups, aligned to clinical schools within local NHS Trusts. You must be a registered healthcare professional (General Medical Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health, and Care Professions Council) and ACCP qualification with FICM membership. Having experience supporting students with teaching, learning and assessment will be useful, along with a teaching qualification. If you do not have a teaching qualification you must be willing to work towards achieving this, with our support. This is a permanent position, offered at 0.5 FTE, working 18.5 hours per week. The unique nature of our programme will require you to travel throughout the academic year, visiting students and their mentors in placement locations across the United Kingdom. This will include some overnight stays, with an annual travel commitment in the region of 15 days (3 weeks). As this is a part-time position, we welcome applications from practising clinicians who are looking to develop their educational expertise, alongside their clinical portfolio. For an informal discussion please contact Rachel Pascoe (Programme Lead) ****. Please include ‘Lecturer (ACCP)’ in the e-mail subject line. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. This role will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus an Adults’ Barred List check. There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information. Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 6th March 2023 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. The Faculty of Health holds a Silver Athena Swan Award and the University holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award which recognises commitment to advancing women’s careers in STEMM academia. Staff appointed within the Faculty of Health may be able to join the NHS pension scheme subject to eligibility criteria. The University of Plymouth has a strong interdisciplinary research ethos which is supported by our three strategic Research Institutes; the Marine Institute, the Sustainable Earth Institute, and the Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research.
