Who You Are
As the Director of the Learning Commons, you will provide leadership for the development, coordination and implementation of all Learning Commons programs and services for the general academic development of students. The Learning Commons will be the home for comprehensive academic learning support services that include tutoring, the supplemental instruction program, library, student workshops, and coaching related to academic and student success skills. The Learning Commons integrates curricular and co-curricular interactions with a focus on belonging and connection for students.
In this position you will demonstrate commitment to student success and to the provision of excellent service, as well as strengths in outreach, collaboration, communication, supervision, instruction, assessment, and ability to adapt to change. You will bring together all college academic support services under one common area and be knowledgeable of national tutoring trends, supplemental instruction, and delivery methodologies of both traditional and online learners.
As the Director of the Learning Commons, you will contribute to the achievement of the college's retention goals for students by working with internal stakeholder groups to assist in the determination of the academic support service needs of students, identifying appropriate programs or resources, connecting appropriate programs and resources with students, recommending the development of and implementing programs in response to student academic support service needs, and working with academic departments to implement supplemental instruction and tutoring program opportunities.
Please note: This is an on-campus position with an opportunity for remote work. You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment.
SALARY:
Low to mid $60s annually

Primary Duties
Department Leadership
Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for the planning, developing, and improvement of instructional programs and support services in the Learning Commons.
Provide leadership for all aspects of the Learning Commons development and implementation, including engaging and collaborating with appropriate academic departments, faculty, and staff and support the facilitation of the Math, Writing, Sciences, and other academic support centers
Help institutionalize new practices and enhance student success, as well as assure the operational success of the Learning Commons.
Coordinate the delivery of a variety of workshops designed to improve student success skills, such as time management, study skills, writing skills, etc. that impact overall student retention.
Operational Management:
Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff while fostering a commitment to service excellence.
Actively build relationships between the Learning Commons and community partners as appropriate, including serving as the primary point of contact for collaboration with the City of Westminster Public Library
Assessment:
Interact with students in the Learning Commons in ways that promote and enhance a growth mindset regarding student learning and model such behavior consistently for students, faculty and staff.
Provide leadership for the assessment of the Learning Commons, including quantitative and qualitative data collection, monitor and evaluate progress, and recommend and implement practices to improve effectiveness on an on-going basis.
Budget:
Demonstrate sound financial management practices and assure the most effective use of the Learning Commons budget.

Qualifications
Required Education/Training & Work Experience:
Master's degree in education, English, mathematics, reading, sociology, psychology, or another discipline in which a knowledge of students' learning needs would be gained
OR Bachelor's degree with 3 years of professional experience at the Director level in higher education.
AND Demonstrated experience managing or leading a program.
Demonstrated experience leading and supervising a team.
Demonstrated experience managing a department budget.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse student and staff populations.
