Culinary Associate II/Food Court
. The Culinary Associate II reports to the Food Court Manager and will supervise student workers in the absence of a classified or student management team member. This position is not responsible for performance evaluations or performance management, but may assist the unit manager by providing feedback concerning these topics as needed. This position is 1.0 FTE, academic year (AY) and should expect to have time off over winter break, June, and July.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
Training and supervising student workers assigned to work in the food court
Supervise the food court in the absence of a classified or student manager
Serve as a lead worker, providing functional supervision for classified staff members and student workers
Responsible for training and maintaining standards of excellence in guest service, safe food handling, cash handling, and accurately running the point of sale (POS) terminals
Work in the back and front of the house as assigned by the unit manager and depending on the needs of the business
When not actively engaged with guests, stock grab-n-go items, wrap and stock bakery items, stock and fill soups and salads
Clean the front of the house, food safety checks, perform inventory tasks, provide guest security
Perform other duties as assigned
Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have:
Expert knowledge of food service tasks in a food court environment.
Expert knowledge and experience as a cashier in a food service environment.
Expert knowledge and experience with training and POS supervision.
Expert knowledge of and ability to train others in the Campus Dining Cash Handling Policy and Procedures and the operation of the POS terminal.
Expert knowledge of safe food handling and preparation.
Current management ServSafe certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn and train others in relevant Campus Dining policies and procedures.
Ability to work in a variety of Campus Dining operations including coffee operations, The Market, the Food Zoo and R R.
Experience and expertise in providing leadership, motivation and direction to student employees and culinary professionals.
Expert computer skills and experience sufficient to work with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Qualifications
Experience working in a high volume food service operation.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
Ability to learn and train others in the Campus Dining Cash Handling Policy and Procedures and the operation of the POS terminal.
Working knowledge of safe food handling and preparation.
Management ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn and train others in relevant Campus Dining policies and procedures.
Experience and expertise in providing leadership, motivation and direction to student employees and culinary professionals.
Computer skills and experience sufficient to work with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to drive using a valid state driver’s license.
Minimum Required Experience
High School diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) years’ experience of directly related experience working within a food service environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
