Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for performing experiments and analyzing the data in animal models and mammalian cells to elucidate the function and downstream targets of a glycosylation-related gene and to test the potential therapeutic benefits of a compound in a mouse model of the human disease caused by mutations in this gene. The Fellow will also participate in writing the progress reports and manuscripts resulting from this work.”
Job Duties
Leads a project on the role of deglycosylation in animal development and human disease pathogenesis
Designs and perform experiments using cellular, Drosophila and mouse models and to interpret the data
Prepares manuscripts and presentations to communicate our observations to the scientific community
Performs biochemical, cell culture and Drosophila experiments to determine the consequences of altered protein deglycosylation
Performs luciferase and other assays to determine how deglycosylation regulates gene expression
Analyzes the phenotypes of a new mouse model for deglycosylation
Coordinates with our collaborators in other institutions so that our work synergizes with them
Assists the PI in preparing grant applications and training the next generation of scientists
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required: MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in studying signaling pathway and/or biochemical assays is preferred
