General Statement of Responsibilities
Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of a 2 year business plan and the business of massage therapy including insurance billing. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the massage therapy department of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..  
Supervision Received
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
Examples of Duties - Essential Functions
1. Instructs students in a classroom, during the day, evening, or weekend.
2. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. 
3. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. 
4. Adapt learning procedures to the online/distance learning environment, including telecourse and web-based delivery, ensuring comparable quality of instruction, student-teacher interaction, and assessment with classroom-based courses. 
5. May participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities. 
6. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff. 
7. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department. 
8. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed. 
9. Organize the learning experience for the maximum benefit of traditional and non-traditional learners. 
10. Advise students on matters of Business development and course requirements. 
11. Performs other duties as assigned.  
Screening Criteria
Education
: A LMT license required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Experience
: Five years of Massage Therapy occupational experience in the field and a current Oregon Massage Therapy license are required. Teaching experience and strong computer skills preferred.  
Knowledge of
: Extensive knowledge of Massage Therapy discipline; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, networks, the Internet, spreadsheets, multi-media presentations; of curriculum development; of the contemporary community colleges mission, role in higher education, and diverse student body and its needs; of the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; of a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles.  
Ability to
: Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; work collaboratively as a member of an academic department; demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching in the subject area; participate in curriculum and program development; participate in the student advising program and college-wide efforts to improve student retention and success; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.  
Licenses
: If required to drive on behalf of the college, must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record.

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 60%) which is spent in a classroom operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, and other standard office equipment or in a lab environment using standard science equipment and tools. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in a classroom (or virtual classroom) environment. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most classroom environments with infrequent interruptions and background noises. Lighting is adequate.
