Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere.We are searching for a Teaching Assistant to join our team at Prospect Center.This position is based out of our Prospect Center in Queensbury, NY.  Prospect Center has been a leader in improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families in the Tri-County Area (Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties).  Our work in advocacy, education, services, and support has created a wider world of opportunity, greater acceptance and more integrated lives for people who have disabilities. Job Summary:The primary purpose of this position is to assist the teacher and therapists with carrying out activities designed to address goals as outlined in the students’ Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs). The duties may include but are not limited to; direct instruction of students, following mobility, dining, behavior and direct care plans of students.Essential Job Responsibilities:Help the teachers with activities designed to address students’ needs according to their personalized education plansPrepare classroom materials, instructing students, and custodial care of studentsWork collaboratively with interdisciplinary team membersQualifications:High School diploma or equivalentExperience with children or individuals with disabilities is preferredMust obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one (1) year of hire and maintain the certification while employedMust be at least 18 years old and able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds to apply for this positionAt The Center for Disability Services, we don’t just accept difference – we celebrate it, support it, and thrive on it for the benefit of our employees and the people we support.
