Supervisors: Head of Department (Second Language), K-8 Coordinator, MYP Coordinator, High school Coordinator, IB Coordinator, Vice PrincipalPosition Description:Teach German language and literature courses to Middle/High School German students as a second and primary language (Language B)Teach German language and literature courses to Middle/High School German students as a second and primary language (Language B)Act as a liaison between KIS administration, teaching staff, individual German students and their parentsDevelop German language and literature curriculum for Middle/High School level within PYP, MYP and IB frameworkTranslate web material and documents pertaining to KIS intended for parents of German students from English to GermanTeach the history of German literature with an emphasis on modern literature and selected literary works, literary skills including text handling, written and oral presentationsPreferred Academic Qualifications:B.A/M.A. (or equivalent) from a recognized university;B.Ed/TESOL/or language teaching certificate desirableProfessional Experience:At least one year teaching experience or equivalent in a multi-cultural or international contextProfessional Skills:Dedicated to student learningStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skillsTeam player with ability to delegate and coordinate workWilling to work creatively with available materials/ resourcesAble to create and teach interdisciplinary lessons.Understand the developmental characteristics, differences in learning styles and intelligence and adapt lesson planning and teaching appropriatelyCapacity to support the goals and mission of KIS through his/her personal philosophy.Responsibilities:Support KIS guiding principlesTeach up to 75 PERCENT out of total instructional periods in a 6-day cycle.Preparation, marking, report writing and all other administration related to the teaching of the subject(s)Participate in departmental meetings, planning, in-service training activities and invigilation duties as required by the Head of Department or CoordinatorsBe available to conference with students out of classPromptly pass information to advisors, residential Parents and Coordinators when students attendance, academic performance or behaviour is praiseworthy or giving cause for concernTo be available for work on campus in good time to complete all necessary preparations and meetings before the start of the term.To hand-over all relevant material l to the HoD/Coordinator upon departure from KISTo respect the confidential nature of discussions at staff meetings and other contexts in which sensitive information is likely to be communicated particularly in terms of interaction with students.Support residential life of the school by chaperoning activities, clubs, field trips, camp, long weekend field day etc., and being advisor to a group of studentsFulfill other duties as required by the Head of department/Vice Principal/PrincipalTo be considered for the position, please do the following:Download application form (Click Here)Fill-in the required informationEmail the completed form along with CV / Resume and letter of interest to: **** stating the position applied for in the subject lineNote: Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
