invites applications for an
IT Applications Administrator (Computer Support Specialist III).
This position is responsible for the administration, support, and advocacy of current and future cloud and locally hosted technology solutions supported by UM’s IT organization. The position is primarily responsible for administration, support and advocacy of UM IT application services that includes form workflows, cloud storage, videoconferencing, and submission/review processes. The incumbent will work closely with departments across the university and within IT to build, maintain, and implement solutions that improve their processes. This position is not responsible for the supervision of any full time staff. However, this position will work closely with other UM IT staff and, as such, may serve as a mentor for student staff on special projects.
Core duties include:
Maintain and update UM IT’s website.
Maintain the campus IT service ticketing and knowledgebase system, to better manage UM IT projects and workflows.
Support effective use of several cloud and hosted application services including Box, Qualtrics, Zoom, Submittable, DocuSign, Team Dynamix, and the university Learning Management System.
Conduct daily technical administrative work to ensure the availability, stability and security of both cloud and hosted services.
Monitor systems and services, responding to alerts and performing root cause analysis.
Communicate and collaborate with clients to support use of IT services, including migrating services and diagnosing issues when encountered.
Understand and document the technical requirements for new services or service enhancements.
Advise on technological decisions and provide service implementation estimates.
Support the overall architecture design and implementation, ensuring it meets requirements and performance goals.
Manage and communicate system changes through a formal change management process.
Lead process and interface design efforts that ensure positive user experiences.
Provide escalated support and assist with in-depth troubleshooting with other team members.
Develop communication campaigns to promote awareness and use of existing applications and services, and transitions to new systems and services.
Promote effective and consistent use of applications by functional offices through collaborative leadership.
Provide guidance and training to educate faculty, staff, and students on emerging technologies.
Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have:
Demonstrated knowledge of administering various IT applications in an enterprise (or higher education) setting.
Skill in reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
Ability to manage and maintain a workload.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to project a mature, constructive, stable, and healthy attitude in a learning environment.
Ability to maintain productive work relationships with vendors, staff, students, faculty, university officials and the general public.
Ability to adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
Ability to travel and to attend workshops, conferences and other required continuing education and training
Required Skills
Excellent written communication skills to produce campus communications, procurement and purchasing justifications, training materials that must be clearly written, well structured, accurate, complete, and professional in appearance.
Ability to manage workload and workflow by monitoring deadlines and prioritizing multiple concurrent processes.
Must be minimally sufficient in the following software/hardware:
Qualtrics (or alternative survey software system)
Submittable (or alternative submission evaluation software system)
Box (or alternative document management system)
Cascade (or alternative web content management system)
TeamDynamix
DocuSign
Zoom or other web conferencing software
Minimum Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field and three (3) years of progressive experience working in an Information Technology environment delivering enterprise wide systems and services; or any combination of experience and education that provides the competencies necessary to successfully discharge the duties and responsibilities assigned to the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education environment
Experience with administering, managing, and maintaining online cloud services such as Qualtrics, Box, Zoom, Qualtrics, Submittable, RiseVision, etc.
Experience with support ticketing systems, such as Zendesk or Request Tracker or Team Dynamix
Experience with task or project management tools, such as Basecamp, Trello, or Wrike
Understanding of state and federal regulations including Section 504 of the American Rehabilitation Act, HIPAA, HITECH, FERPA, and other regulatory standards such as PCI DSS
Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams to achieve strategic goals.
