ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Student Conduct and Ethical Development (SCED) is part of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students staff within Student Success. SCED has five (5) full-time professional staff, one full-time administrative support staff, one graduate assistant, and a student assistant. Additionally, faculty, staff, and students serve as volunteers on the University Conduct Board (UCB) to support the mission of SCED. The goal of SCED is to encourage and develop standards of behavior and critical thinking that will create a community of leaders and citizens while enhancing the USF environment for community members living, studying, and working at USF. By engaging students in one-on-one interactions with staff trained in student development and through group interactions with the UCB, USF students are challenges to assess and reassess their framework of principles and behavioral norms that support a healthy community. The mission of the office is to provide for the safety and wellbeing of the University environment; to aid in the growth and development of a student as related to a student's behavior; and to serve as the management agency for the USF Student Code of Conduct. SCED staff also serve as a resource to members of the USF community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development. The position will serve as a Hearing Officer for student conduct cases, assist in the training and coordination of the University Conduct Board, and coordinates and facilitates campus outreach and educational programming initiatives. This position is designated Essential Personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and facilitates SCED outreach programs for the campus community. Serves as the SCED liaison for campus and community partners/departments. Supports campus partners in the implementation of educational and awareness initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to, investigating student conduct cases within the purview of the Student Code of Conduct. Serves as a Hearing Officer to adjudicate student conduct cases and assign sanctions as appropriate.
Assists in the development and facilitation of educational workshops to include research and benchmarking to determine best practices and current trends/topics.
Monitors and tracks student conduct cases through the student conduct process utilizing the conduct database system. Assists in compiling all educational workshop and outreach initiatives data (monthly, each semester, and annually). Additionally, assist the Director in conducting student conduct processes and outreach initiative assessment.
Assists in the coordination, recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of University Conduct Board members.
Performs other duties as assigned, to include serving as Essential Personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor degree requirement for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in College Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education or related field. Demonstrated practice in student conduct at a university level. Preferred knowledge of student conduct database systems (e.g., Symplicity Advocate, Maxient). Experience in student conflict resolution, residential life, student conduct, or a related field within student affairs/student success.
