JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

 

The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time research assistant (100% FTE), in the laboratory of Dr. Vladimir Bogdanov, to assist with laboratory projects and conduct experiments in the area of benign and malignant hematology/oncology. The successful candidate will be expected to make independent contributions to projects and studies, based on prior professional training as well as experience gained while in the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Perform experiments and document results according to laboratory research protocols, adhering to best practices. *Interpret the obtained results and contribute to the development of further experimental steps. May perform statistical and graphical data analysis. *Assist in animal colony management/husbandry and perform in vivo studies under supervision. *Perform general laboratory maintenance & upkeep duties as needed. *Perform related duties based on departmental need.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*In-depth knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques, e.g. conventional PCR/RT-PCR, qPCR, western blotting, ELISA etc., is ideal. *Experience with MS Office components and statistical software programs is ideal; the laboratory can arrange training if needed. *Prior experience in working with experimental mice is ideal; the laboratory can arrange training if needed.

*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
