Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE: The Assumption University Athletic Department is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to fill a key role in the office and at events as an athletic communications graduate assistant for videography and creative services during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. The graduate assistant for videography and creative services will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing and be involved in the day-to-day operations of the department while gaining hands-on experience in a variety of areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: The graduate assistant will assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing with publicity efforts for the University's 24 NCAA Division II varsity sports athletic program. The selected candidate will:
1. Act as the primary contact person for overseeing, directing, setting up, managing, and broadcasting home athletic events for NE10 NOW. This includes scheduling all broadcasting positions primarily with student interns and work study students majoring in communication and media. Also help capture short video clips of events.
2. In collaboration with the Northeast-10 Conference's Director of Strategic Communications and Multimedia Services, ensure that the athletic department is in compliance with all multimedia efforts for broadcasting home athletic events of applicable sports. Make recommendations for purchasing and/or upgrading equipment as needed.
3. With assistance from communication and media majors, oversee and create content for the Assumption Athletics YouTube account. This includes postgame interviews as well as creating features and highlight videos for all sports.
4. In collaboration with a second graduate assistant, take a leadership role with promoting Assumption Athletics through other primary athletic social media accounts (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook).
5. Take the lead and oversee the department's graphic design efforts with the assistance of student interns and work study students who are graphic design majors and/or graphic design minors.
6. Provide assistance to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing with other projects as needed, which includes department banquets for the Hall of Fame and annual department awards.
Requirements:
* Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
* Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited institution and looking to pursue a professional career in videography and other creative aspects of athletic communications.
* Candidates must be accepted into a graduate degree program at Assumption University before being hired as a Graduate Assistant
* Previous experience in an athletic communications office.
* Expertise and experience with videography, which includes capturing and editing content using applicable software, as well as various social media platforms.
* Ability to work nights and weekends.
* Have a willingness to travel, especially for postseason competitions.
* A desire to learn and continue to improve all skills involving capturing and editing video as well as with social media.
Preferred Skills & Needs:
* Experience with BlueFrame Technology.
* Knowledge of a variety of sports.

SCOPE:
* Maintains on-going contacts with representatives of the various media outlets.
* Communicates regularly with University students, faculty and staff.
* Maintains extensive photographic and video library of all student/athletes - past and present.
* Possesses and understands the many skills required for the profession; i.e., journalistic, graphic design, photographic, videotape and electronic media, computer program, application and networking.
COMPENSATION:
* The position is slated to start in August. Compensation will include an annual stipend.
* This is a 20 hour per week, 40 week/year position from August 2022 - May 2023.
* Compensation includes Graduate Tuition remission in an Assumption University graduate program.Tuition Remission includes 3 courses in the fall and 3 in the spring and 2 courses for the summer (fees not included) until graduate degree completed or employment ends, whichever occurs first.

This position requires working nights and weekends.
