Description:
King University is accepting applications for the position of Student Success Specialist. This position supports the mission of King University by serving as an advisor and mentor in an effort to enhance students’ academic success and increase institutional retention and completion rates. This position also serves as the University’s School Certifying Official (SCO) for Veterans Affairs and will work with Veterans and Veteran beneficiaries seeking educational benefits for federal aid. This is an hourly position with occasional weekend or evening work expected for specific events.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required and candidates should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and have technological proficiency in Microsoft Office. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and handle a complex and varied caseload.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with texting and social media; experience in a higher education setting; military and/or SCO experience. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:
The Student Success Specialist/SCO will work with students to encourage achievement, monitor academic success, increase motivation, and assess student’s ability to persist to the next semester/academic year; foster conversation on such topics as study habits, course registration, major selection, and campus involvement; and will direct students to appropriate university resources to help ensure their success. As SCO this individual will report all VA benefit information to the VA and relevant University departments following all VA policies.
