Job Summary
The College of Sciences and Mathematics (
COSAM
) Outreach Office is seeking an Outreach Administrator.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
I. Oversee and manage portions of existing
COSAM
outreach programs focused on a K-12 audience including, but not limited to: Science Olympiad; Science Matters summer enrichment program; AMP'd and MaPP challenges;
GUTS
programs; Destination
STEM
; and others as assigned.
II. Assist with supervising undergraduate outreach staff and the volunteer workforce needed to implement outreach programs.
III
. Assist director in identifying existing program needs or new program opportunities. Work as part of a team to help develop new programs.
IV. Assist in the development and delivery of proposals, newsletters, reports, and professional information and support to other offices and departments.
V. Provide consultation to
COSAM
faculty and K-12 school personnel for project design and implementation. Stimulate the outreach community to pursue opportunities by cultivating contacts and keeping the outreach community informed of funding opportunities.
VI. Assist in the management and maintenance of budgetary obligations for existing outreach programs. Aid in assuring appropriate expenditure levels and implement sound financial practices for the conduct of programs to maintain and further the financial success of the unit and the college. Meet departmental and university standards for accounting documentation and reporting procedures.
VII
. Serve as a liaison for all participating departments within the college and with other university outreach support offices. Serve on committees or boards that support the mission of the unit.

. Aid in the development of brochures, flyers, public service announcements, letters, websites, presentations, manuals, and other materials for the effective promotion of outreach efforts. Use sound professional judgment on material design, production, and distribution, and exercise sound fiscal management on marketing activities.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of educational programs, services, and systems is required. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; proven ability to develop and implement outreach programs; ability to foster and maintain positive professional relationships with appropriate stakeholders (faculty, industry sponsors, teachers, K-12 and higher ed administrators) is crucial; ability to interact and communicate effectively with university and K-12 faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the community; commitment to equal opportunity and multi-cultural diversity; and strong organizational and computer skills. Qualified candidate must have a positive disposition and work well with others.

Desired qualifications include: Master's degree from an accredited institution in disciplines as noted above; demonstrated ability to work well with children; proven ability to lead others in achieving a common goal; past documented teaching or program experience working with youth is desired.
