Description

Qualifications Required:
1. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction English as a Second Language license, grades 9-12

2. Three years of exemplary secondary ESL teaching experience preferred

3. Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team

4. Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based “best practice” for ELLs



Qualifications Desired:
1. Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Academic Core Content area certification (English Language Arts, Math, Science or Social Studies)

2. Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, and other stakeholders

3. Evidence of on-going professional learning



Examples of Essential Functions:
1. Initiates structures for learning communities that support teacher and student learning

2. Nurtures a department culture that supports ongoing team-based professional learning

3. Acts as a resource to support job-embedded professional learning

4. Engages the staff in using research to make informed instructional decisions

5. Provides classroom-based support for implementation of new and/or refined instructional practices

6. Differentiates professional learning experiences in response to teacher needs and concerns

7. Creates structures and processes for collaborative work that promote collegiality and shared responsibility

8. Includes peer observation when invited by the teacher, modeling lessons, and providing feedback

9. Administers federally mandated English proficiency assessment to new students

10. Provides support to teachers regarding required paperwork and procedures

11. Completes other duties appropriate to the role as assigned by supervisor
