Description:
The University of Plymouth operates a mature, friendly and professional IT Service Desk. We are looking for a candidate who has experience of providing excellent customer service and has a keen interest in IT. It is NOT ESSENTIAL that applicants have previous experience in an IT-based role. First and foremost, you should have a genuine customer service ethos but also understand that IT support is vital to a University with a reputation for high quality, internationally leading education, research and innovation. The Service Desk has a proven track record in providing the workforce with IT that works and excellent support at times when things don’t. The role will be busy, and the pace, range and volume of work will require you to maintain a professional approach and customer focus at all times; confident in dealing with people at all levels of the University with varying degrees of digital literacy, in order to provide technical support and fix issues at the first point of contact, where possible. You will gain exposure to new and well-established technology. This is a permanent, part-time position working 25.9 hours per week (0.7 FTE), Monday to Friday (exact working pattern to be confirmed). Our office is based in the Emdeck building, Pennycomequick, Plymouth. The team is currently operating a hybrid office/home-working model, but some office working is required. For an informal discussion please contact Geoff Martin (Senior Service Desk Analyst) on 01752 587143 or via email on ****. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 1st January 2024 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. To find out more about our inclusive community, initiatives such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter and our range of benefits / support mechanisms such as flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption leave please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpages We particularly welcome applicants from under-represented groups such as BAME/BIPOC and LGBT .
