Minimum Qualifications
· Master’s degree or higher in Education, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field
· Previous experience working directly with middle, and/or high school student populations
· Supervisory experience
· Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Power Point and Excel
· Effective written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience working in a NC community college
· Two (2) years full-time experience working in dual enrollment programming, admissions, academic advising, academic counseling, career coaching, secondary-to- postsecondary transitions, or related role
· Previous experience serving at the director level or higher of a student support unit
· Experience working with retention software technologies and student information systems
· Demonstrated prior working knowledge of North Carolina Career and College Promise or other structured dual credit programs to include college transfer and career and technical education pathways.
Position Description
Job Description
The Director of Secondary Education Partnerships is a full-time, 12-month position responsible for building strong partnerships with local education agencies (LEAs), private schools, and other educational entities in South Piedmont’s service area. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Success, the Director of Secondary Education Partnerships promotes and maintains the operations of a comprehensive educational experience for future and current students in dual credit high school programs to include Career and College Promise (CCP), Cooperative and Innovative High Schools (CIHS), and other secondary programs. The Director of Secondary Education Partnerships works collaboratively with local educational agencies, SPCC faculty and staff, and other stakeholders to promote completion and success secondary and dually enrolled students in college certificates, degrees, and pathways. The Director also serves as the point of contact for program inquiries. This is a supervisory position and requires travel to middle and high schools throughout the College’s service areas.
Job Duties
· Serve as the primary point of contact and provide coordination for secondary education related activities at the College
· Provide leadership and responsibility for management, operations, and promotion of Secondary Education Partnerships programs including, but not limited to, Career and College Promise (CCP) initiatives for Anson and Union Counties (public, private, charter, and home schools), Cooperative and Innovative High Schools (CIHS), Career Coaching, and related programming.
· Collaborate with Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), academic divisions, and curriculum committee to develop, plan, implement, and administer high school programs and the curriculum courses offered in both transfer and career and technical education pathways
· Identify and promote strategies for middle and high school students to explore pre-apprenticeships, industry certifications, and other workforce preparedness opportunities
· Provide quality supervision and ongoing professional development for personnel reporting to the Director to include career coaches, early college coordinators, and other program staff
· Provide support in the effective advising, enrollment, and registration of high school students both on-site and off-site at their local high schools as needed; interpret test scores and high school transcripts to determine eligibility criteria; administer career assessments as needed
· Create and maintain effective relationships with community partners; maintain a consistent flow of communication via on-site visits, virtual meetings, email, and phone calls with principals, counselors, career development coordinators and other stakeholders
· Provide reports as needed to high school partners on book needs, student schedules, student progression, etc.
· Identify course needs and delivery to promote student progression
· Work collaboratively with college support units such as Admissions, Records, Learning Supports, Counseling, and Library Services to ensure services are appropriately provided to students
· Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, NC Department of Public Instruction, and applicable state and federal guidelines
· Contact and meet with high school career development coordinators, counselors, teachers, and principals to explain benefits of SPCC program offering and maintain SPCC materials at the service area high schools
· Coordinate and facilitate SPCC open houses, parent nights, classroom visitations, career expos, college fairs, and other special events to discuss program options to potential students
· Regularly audit and update reports associated with high school student progression, performance and eligibility; ensure documentation and record keeping of student advising sessions utilizing college’s retention software
· Collaborate with Academic and Student Affairs leadership to develop and update policies and processes to improve the quality of high school programs and promote college completion
· Contribute to the authoring of reports and evidence gathering related to high school populations to ensure compliance with the College’s accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
· Attend local, regional, and state conferences/workshops to explore trends and best practices that will assist and enhance student completion in high school programs
· Perform other duties as assigned
