Job Summary/Purpose
Works in collaboration with physicians, administrators, oncology staff and other healthcare staff to promote quality patient care management by ensuring that timely, accurate and complete data is incorporated and maintained on all types of cancers and certain benign conditions diagnosed and/or treated within CHI Health.  Serves as a valuable resource for cancer information, monitoring quality of care and clinical practice guidelines, assessing patterns of care and referrals and monitoring adverse outcomes.  Involved in managing and analyzing clinical care information for the purposes of education, research and outcomes measurement.  Follows data collection, reporting and quality standards for compliance to state, federal and third party accreditation and regulatory agencies.
 
Key Job Responsibilities


Conducts casefinding to maintain a complete cancer registry database.

Performs abstracting activities by efficiently and accurately abstracting cancer registry data.

Conducts data analysis and reporting by collecting, calculating, analyzing, interpreting and presenting numerical data related to cancer occurence, management and outcomes.

Performs registry data quality assurance and auditing to ensure accurate, consistent and complete data.

Performs follow-up activities to ensure compliance with Commission on Cancer requirements.

Supports Tumor Board/Case Conference activities and activities of the Cancer Committee to maintain Commission on Cancer accreditation.

Assists in operations of the registry which may include training and developing staff, creating and updating policies and procedures, attending meetings and participating on committees and participating in educational activities.

Minimum of an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) Bachelors Degree preferred
 
Required Licensure and Certifications
Certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is required or certification must be obtained within 2 years of date of hire.  If cancer registrar is not certified, they must be supervised by a CTR.
 
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
 
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of cancer diagnosis, stage, treatment and outcomes; Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding; 2 years experience in a cancer registry preferred; Knowledge of cancer registry software systems such as Elekta’s METRIQ preferred.','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
