The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is looking for energetic individuals to staff our Summer Fun Program. The program provides area children, ages 7 thru 13, with a fun-filled summer that includes games, activities and field trips! This is a temporary employment. The program runs for 8 weeks. The program begins on June 13,2022 and runs for 8 weeks, until August 5, 2022. There will also be 1 week for training totaling 9 weeks. An exit interview may be required at close of program. The Summer Fun Assistant Program Coordinator provides assistance in coordinating and administering the City's Summer Fun Youth Program; participates in organizing and monitoring program activities; conducts counseling sessions; prepares program records and documentation; and performs other related duties.

The Summer Fun Assistant Program Coordinator provides assistance in coordinating and administering the City's Summer Fun Youth Program; participates in organizing and monitoring program activities; conducts counseling sessions; prepares program records and documentation; and performs other related duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING
Essential Functions
Assists with the supervision and training of approximately 17 summer workers about City and Parks and Recreation policies and procedures; assists with the management and administration of the Summer Fun Program.
Schedules arts and crafts classes at playground sites and orders supplies and equipment.
Assists in preparing and scheduling on and off campus site activities for approximately 150 school age children at 2 sites.
Drives to each activity site to supervise and train employees; monitors program activities and responds to on-call situations; schedule bus transportation to all off campus activities.
Other Miscellaneous Duties: Occasional parent and child counseling.
Decision Making
Assist with the training and monitoring of approximately 17 temporary employees.
Planning ability; ability to assign appropriate summer personnel for various program activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)
Minimum Requirements
An Associate's Degree in Education, Recreation Administration, or related field is preferred.
A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum of one-year supervisory experience working with children in a recreation and/or educational setting is required.
Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
CPR/First Aid Certification is required during week of training- administered by COSM
Required to work a full 10 weeks with the program.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with young children is preferred.

Core Competencies
Good communication skills needed to deal with staff members, handle public concerns regarding the Summer Fun Program; and to conduct child and parent counseling. Ability to deal effectively with several problems at one time; deal appropriately with several individuals in solving problems; analyze various types of data and reach conclusions. Basic calculations for review of enrollment controls.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include working outdoors in extreme heat, humidity and wind. Occasionally exposed to pool chemicals, slippery surfaces, and noise around crowds and whistles. Subject to standing, sitting, hearing, talking, vision, lifting up to 20 lbs., pushing, pulling, handling, fine dexterity, foot controls, crouching, banding, twisting, climbing, balancing and reaching.
