Description
This recruitment is being conducted to fill temporary assignments at Ventura College only and not
being conducted to establish an eligibility list from which regular appointments will be made, as such this recruitment may close at any time.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, operate a telephone switchboard or console; act as receptionist and provide general information to students, public and staff; perform a variety of clerical duties including the processing and distribution of inter-district, regular and bulk mail.

Established in 1925, Ventura College was one of the first community colleges in California and currently has an enrollment of 14,500 students. Located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, the 112-acre campus is set in the rolling hills of Ventura - so close to the ocean that there is a clear view of the Channel Islands from several spots on campus.

All new employees must be fully vaccinated by the first day of employment. An exemption may be requested by individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to medical and/or religious reasons. Employees who receive an exemption will be required to wear a mask or face covering while on District property and/or facilities and will be required to undergo COVID-19 testing twice weekly. Representative Duties
Operate a telephone switchboard or console; answer, screen and route incoming telephone calls; take and deliver messages.

Greet and direct visitors as appropriate; provide routine information to employees, students and the public.

Sort, weigh, meter and affix postage on outgoing U.S. mail and package according to postal regulations; prepare bulk mailings; receive, sort and distribute incoming U.S. and inter-district mail.

Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, duplication and filing.

Maintain related records, forms, logs and documents.
E
Operate a variety of department equipment including postage meter, scale, computer and fax machine.

Train and provide work direction to relief operators as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year of general clerical or receptionist experience including six months operating a telephone console.
