PATIENT CARE ASST PERIOP - OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER - FULL TIME','Full-time','Clinical Support','FULL TIME','FULL TIME','80','80','Occasional','Occasional','ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK-ST VINCENT INFIRMARY','','!*!JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall cleaning, stocking, and maintaining of equipment / supplies in assigned service line or ancillary units as it relates to supporting department goals. Serves as a liaison by providing a working knowledge of equipment, supplies, carts and par levels. Supports all areas within O.R. department and includes Ancillary Departments (Cath Lab, GI Lab, L&D, and Outpatient Surgery) as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
COMMUNICATION
Expresses appropriate communication to patient, families, coworkers, and other customers.
Identifies self to others in a professional manner.
Adheres to dress code and maintains a professional image with the ID badge clearly displayed.
Offers assistance and provides directions to customers keeping a positive and courteous tone.
Determines need for and properly implements safety measures for patients in a timely manner.
Communicates effectively with team members.
Respects line of communication and authority
Listens and follows instructions accurately
Assisting the Surgeon/Anesthesiologist/Nurse Anesthetist/O.R. Staff
Assists in assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are available for surgery
Terminally cleans and disinfects machines and equipment between procedures and at end of shift
Maintains par levels of and rotate for outdated anesthesia and surgery supplies in all appropriate areas i.e. anesthesia dispense room, center core areas, operating room suites, specialty carts, satellite areas, etc.
Assists OR personnel in restocking/returning supplies onto exchange carts.
Monitors and maintains medical gas cylinders (gases). Demonstrates a basic knowledge of correct procedure for transporting, placement and safety of cylinders.
Procure emergency supplies from pharmacy and central service as requested by Supervisor.
Transports equipment, machines and supplies when required.
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of the rationale and safety necessary when assisting coworkers in moving and positioning patients on the O.R. table.
Demonstrates understanding of basic principles, rationale and safety when using the Autoclave and VPro to flash items as requested.
Maintenance of A Safe And Efficient Workplace And Patient Environment.
Uses care when handling instruments, specifically delicate items.
Keeps an organized, orderly, and neat work environment.
Identify, locate and forward equipment in need of repair or routine inspection and procure replacements.
Maintains current knowledge to ensure safe working environment and demonstrates practical application of all
policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, universal precautions and risk management .
Have all equipment cleaned and repaired as needed.
Demonstrates and maintains basic operational knowledge of all equipment and their accessories, and other related machinery/equipment
Follows manufacturer’s instruction in the maintenance of equipment..
Understands and complies with infection control policies and procedures such as hand washing, of infectious agents/materials.
FLEXIBILITY
Demonstrates flexibility in accomplishing work tasks.
Adheres to time and attendance policy.
Available and accessible when on duty.
Leaves for and returns from inservices, meals, and breaks as scheduled.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES/ENVIRONMENT OF CARE
Assists during emergency situations according to nursing and hospital policy.
Maintains a safe workplace environment.
Functions appropriately in emergencies according to assigned responsibilities and hospital policy.
Provides safety boundaries for patient at risk for violence.
','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalent
Experience: Hospital experience and /or Operating Room experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must possess ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, ability to lift 50 lbs./transfer patients and equipment. Pulling, pushing, and reaching will be required in the day-to-day operation. Must possess ability to see, hear, smell, and speak. The individual in this position will be exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions. There is also potential for exposure to respiratory hazards, blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards, and body fluids.
Skills: Must possess demonstrated communication skills, excellent customer service skills and ability to deal effectively with multi-disciplinary team members/patients/significant others and physicians.
