The Opportunity
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (UCF) Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) is seeking qualified candidates for an Admissions Specialist II position. The Admissions Specialist II will support the Nicholson School of Communication and Media with efforts to recruit, admit, matriculate, and graduate undergraduate students. This position will assist with limited access admissions and enrollment and provide administrative support to the Nicholson Academic Student Services Center (NASSC).
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the admissions process for the NSCM undergraduate limited access programs. This will include monitoring and responding to inquiries, receiving, and processing applications, verifying academic coursework and grades, inputting test scores, managing the admissions database, updating student records, and overseeing the change of major processes.
Provide pre-admission advising to prospective and current students and address inquiries about academic requirements and the admissions process. Update and distribute the academic program guides. Attend and assist with the NASSC advising activities including new major orientations, open houses, and information sessions.
Review applicant files and contact applicants to ensure that all necessary documents have been received. Assist with applicant notifications and inquiries after decisions have been made. Maintain ongoing communication with prospective students from the point of inquiry through the admissions process.
Provide administrative support to the NASSC including managing the front desk, reception, and waiting areas, requesting materials and supplies, and ensuring maintenance of copy machines, computing equipment, and digital displays. Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer advisors. Monitor email and phone accounts and responds accordingly.
Assist with the development of marketing strategies and tools for recruiting new students. Organize, implement, and attend recruitment events on and/or off campus. Develop materials/strategies for recruiting at the university and state and community college partners. Monitor, manage, and update the NASSC social media accounts and webpage.
Actively recruit/communicate with internal/external prospective students by email/phone/Zoom, and/or in-person appointments. Schedule and coordinate monthly open houses/tours for prospective students/families. Develop/coordinate email campaigns to promote timely enrollment and high-impact engagement opportunities.
Maintain and organize academic records and electronic files, including overseeing and managing internship/independent research/practicum enrollment and grade change forms.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Self-directed/managed.
Ability to use a variety of software programs.
Excellent customer service skills and orientation.
Collaborative/team orientation.
