This position emphasizes pharmacy practice and patient care in a patient care clinic setting – Inpatient, Ambulatory, or Community Practice. The primary clinical responsibilities of the faculty member will be the provision of pharmacy services and direct patient care. The faculty member will also serve as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students and PGY1 residents. Practice responsibilities will encompass a broad range of disease states. Didactic teaching will primarily occur within the School of Pharmacy’s therapeutic modules and patient assessment skills series, but may also occur within other courses or laboratories. Service and scholarship responsibilities will be determined by faculty rank as required to accomplish career contract. The candidate should possess a Pharm.D. degree and be eligible for pharmacy licensure in the State of Virginia. The candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of clinical pharmacy practice, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to develop and work within innovative pharmacy practice models. A pharmacy practice (PGY1) residency or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience in pharmacy practice is required. A specialty (PGY2) residency or fellowship training is preferred.
