Job Description:
Full-time, year-round, live-in position to oversee student housing and residence life within the student dorm at the Hotel Jacaranda. Work schedule varies and is on call. Preferred start date July 1, 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Housing and Residence Life:
Provides live-in management of residence life programs including on-call duty responses during days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Develops and conducts training programs for Resident Assistants to ensure development of quality leadership, customer service, crisis response, mediation, and communication skills.
Provides leadership to the Resident Assistants to lead and develop robust residence life programming by initiating activities, programs, and community development that address the social, recreational, educational, cultural, and cognitive aspects of residents' lives.
Coordinates and supports joint programming with the Student Life Coordinator to also include health and wellness programming.
Facilitates room changes when necessary and reports appropriately.
Mediates roommate and student conflicts when appropriate.
Coordinates with Athletic Director and athletic staff regarding any issues involving athletes in residence.
Demonstrates a positive, caring and patient attitude and utilizes conflict resolution skills to ensure every effort is made to create and maintain satisfied residents.
Manages student housing disciplinary procedures and ensures timely and accurate reports to the appropriate personnel when disciplinary incidents occur.
Provides general support for the recruiting, training, and supervision of Resident Assistants.
Develops relationships with other campus departments and organizations to serve as a referral and resource for students.
Oversees all purchases related to Housing and Residence Life programs and follows proper procedure for obtaining approval and submitting invoices.
Assists in the coordination of student resident check-in/out process and ensures proper procedures are followed.
Assigns students to rooms and coordinates roommate matching. Conducts routine health and safety checks within approved guidelines.
Ensures visitor policies and procedures are applied, as well as calls and emails are answered and directed accordingly.
Provides timely and accurate responses to questions regarding Housing and Residence Life.
Collaborates with the Admissions recruitment team to ensure tours of student housing are conducted professionally.
Participates in the preparation of monthly and annual reports for the department as directed.
Collaborates with various campus staff to train Residence Life staff on the processes associated with properly submitting maintenance requests, reporting damages, documenting and reporting lockouts, and any other related operational procedures.
Provides emergency response through on-call assistance and consultation with public safety providers.
Due to the responsibilities of this position, must maintain personal cellular telephone and high-speed internet technology services, which allow immediate accessibility to the College through text, email and voice messages by cellular smart phone, and responds appropriately as directed.
General:
Effectively coordinates and communicates with other staff and administrators.
Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
Acts as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Must participate in all required CSA/responsible person training.
Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Educational:
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education required. Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, human resources, or counseling desirable.
Experiential:
Previous work experience related to student housing/residence life, or college student affairs required.
Other:
Experience with student conduct/compliance administration desirable. Experience with student athletes a plus. Knowledge and experience with equity/Title IX/Clery Act/VAWA/SAVE Act desirable. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver's License.
