Description
This is a new position to Montana-Western. The Montana 10 Program Manager/Adviser is responsible to recruit, develop, coordinate, manage and advise a cohort of incoming students into the Montana 10 Initiative from OCHE. The position is .5-time Program Manager and .5-time Adviser to the MT10 cohort.
Responsibilities
The Montana 10 (MT10) Coordinator supports the academic success of students, and serves as an adviser for admitted, Pell-eligible students at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.-Western. This employee is responsible for communicating and fostering student success by helping students develop collegiate level study habits, time management skills, test prep and a healthy understanding of expectations and stress management. This position is responsible for drafting and sending out program related communications (including email, written correspondence, and text message communications), managing monthly incentives, text book stipends, and answering general student questions. The employee in this role will be familiar with, and responsible for achieving, the MT10 Program Objectives.
This position will serve half-time as the MT10 Program Coordinator and half-time as MT10 Advisor to identify and develop MT10 cohorts on UMW’s campus. As Program Coordinator, this position is the primary point of contact with the MT10 system at both OCHE and the other MUS campuses with MT10 cohorts.
The Adviser role mentors’ students in the MT10 cohort with class registration, tutoring and other academic momentum activities, and serves to further each of the MT10 Program Objectives. This includes, but is not limited to: holistic advising, communication, outreach, data requests, career activities, and other tasks that are needed to fulfill the objectives of the MT10 program. The MT10 Adviser is expected to meet 1:1 with each MT10 student monthly, as well as be their primary resource for day-to-day academic and campus support.
MT10 Coordinator meets each student in the cohort where they are in terms of their academic progress, then helps them to develop a campus identity, a sense of belonging and involvement, and proven student retention activities designed to retain that student on campus and help them complete their program/academic goals.
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs, (e.g., track evaluation data for MT10 students, Coordinate support and remediation for students experiencing difficulties in MT10)
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Exemplary customer service skills including: effective interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills
Supports and demonstrates the Student -> University -> Unit -> Individual decision-making model.
Demonstrated very strong commitment to student success.
Ability to facilitate and manage working relationships with students, campus departments, faculty, and staff.
Ability to work productively and professionally with diverse populations.
Basic Marketing skills, including the use of social media.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Adaptable-flexible, can handle multiple tasks and projects.
Strong organization skills.
Ability to think analytically and problem solve.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and integrated databases (for example, Banner)
