Job/Department Summary:
Under general direction, the incumbent undertakes a wide range of high-level research projects and data analytics in alignment with university priorities and institutional accountability. Helping to shape a culture of inquiry and data-informed decision-making.
The incumbent conducts analytical studies utilizing sound project methods and design and participates in the following areas: data quality assurance and integrity checking; working with data warehouse technical staff on the programming and machine processing of data; survey administration/analysis; and building data dashboards. Utilizing qualitative and quantitative analysis of data related to enrollment/retention/graduation trends, the incumbent executes research studies, interprets the data, presents research findings, and effectively disseminates the findings with university constituents in such a way that they will be useful for decision-making and institutional improvement.
Mandatory Vaccinations:
The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.
Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
Bilingual.
Graduate degree in data science or related discipline, and at least one year of research or related technical experience; or a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience designing and conducting research.
Experience in a higher education environment; experience with student learning outcomes assessment is strongly preferred.
Training and/or experience with the use of data mining (or machine learning) techniques and algorithms such as decision trees and cluster analysis.
Working knowledge of predictive modeling and model verification.
Demonstrated experience using business intelligence and analytics platforms such as MS Power BI, Tableau, IBM Cognos, or data science toolkits such as R and SPSS.
Required Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university (Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis).
AND
Three years of progressively responsible technical research or statistical experience including or supplemented by one year in the interpretation and graphic presentation of data.
Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration, or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits Information:
$4,476 - $8,097 per month / $53,712 - $97,164 annually (New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning of the salary range)
