Job Description

The position reports to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and is a member of the College of Health Sciences Leadership Team. The position is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the vision, strategic plan and policies to guide the college's graduate education and research innovation goals and outcomes. The position is expected to work closely and collaboratively with faculty, school chairs, and staff.

The Associate Dean will provide leadership to the research and innovation arm of the college and is responsible for increasing sponsored research, encouraging and supporting College of Health Sciences investigators; facilitating multidisciplinary projects; seeking out new sources of funding; connecting the schools and colleges in innovative and creative ways for success in the research funding space; and overseeing the ethical, informed, and safe conduct of research.

Within graduate education, the Associate Dean will advance excellence in graduate education, support student success, and promote and cultivate diversity and inclusion as an educational priority. The Associate Dean will facilitate communication between the Graduate School and College leadership.

Specific responsibilities include: providing oversight on faculty mentoring on research career; providing leadership and oversight for the research council and graduate program directors committee; oversight of graduate assistantship distribution; reviewing resource investment in innovative projects; fostering collaborative interdisciplinary research between schools and academic units; providing guidance on school statements for evaluating scholarly activity/research; and designated committee service.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

The Associate Dean will have considerable academic and scientific experience in: Conducting and managing research projects;
Securing external funding;
Teaching graduate students;
Familiarity with federal grant finance and compliance issues;
Experience evaluating research proposals, and;
Will possess the leadership qualities and abilities needed to help the college achieve its vison for being nationally acclaimed for its interdisciplinary and innovative research.
Eligible for a tenured faculty position within the Schools of Dental Hygiene, Medical Diagnostic & Translational Sciences, Nursing, or Rehabilitation Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training Earned terminal research degree in health-related field
Demonstrated record of leadership and/or management experience
Record of external funding
Defined and robust research agenda
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

The successful candidate will have the experience and distinguished scholarly record consistent with an Associate or Full Professor with Tenure.
