Description

Located in the beautiful mountains of southeastern WV, through its five locations - Beaver, Lewisburg, Princeton, Summersville, and Ghent - the college serves thousands of students by offering traditional programs, continuing education, and workforce development each year. This position will be housed on the Lewisburg, West Virginia campus. New River is currently seeking qualified individuals for Adjunct Nursing faculty positions in the following areas Medical Surgical Nursing and Obstetrics and Pediatrics, interested in educating the next generation of Registered Nurses in Southern WV. Registered Nursing Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising students in the classroom and clinical settings, as well as for curriculum development and student guidance. This position is an as needed renewable term faculty position that requires the ability to travel between clinical sites on a regular basis.
Examples of Duties
Communicate with the Registered Nursing Program Director and other nursing faculty at least weekly and as necessary.
Attend all Nursing faculty meetings scheduled each academic year.
Attend Nursing Advisory Committee meetings as requested by the Nursing Program Director or Dean.
Serve as a liaison to community and professional agencies.
Assist with the maintenance of essential school and student records to be used for student and program evaluation and follow-up.
Visit clinical practice areas as requested by the program director to evaluate student experience and maintain communications with faculty, administration and staff.
Assist with the planning and implementation of the annual School of Registered Nursing budget.
Make recommendations to the program director for classroom and clinical faculty evaluation, appointments and promotions.
Assist with student admission activities, including testing and interviewing, as requested by the Program Director or Dean.
Assist with the development of course outlines and lesson plans for teaching nursing courses.
Direct and supervise student learning in the classroom/clinical/lab.
Evaluate and record student performance.
Participate in the counseling and guidance of students in relation to their course of instruction.
Select educational resources and materials consistent with program objectives and student need.
Maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
Assist with other administrative duties as requested by the Director of the Nursing Program or Dean.
Adhere to the policies and procedures of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and the Practical Nursing Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
BSN in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program
MSN in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program (preferred)
CNE preferred but not required.
Experience:
Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in West Virginia without practice restrictions
Minimum of two (2) years of professional RN experience in the teaching content area expected to teach, with the most recent experience within the last ten - years (10) years immediately preceding employment
Previous teaching experience in a nursing program preferred.

Demonstrate proficient ability in the use of MS Office programs.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stoop, bend, pivot, lift and climb stairs and meet other physical requirements inherent in being a practical nursing instructor.
Must be able to perform a great deal of standing and walking when teaching and supervising students.
Working Environment:
Works in a well-lighted and ventilated building with heat and air conditioning.
May work in a shared office space equipped with telephone, computer, printer and office furniture.
