Position Summary:
This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments as an Art History Instructor during the 2022-23 academic year.
ART101 Understanding Art (online, remote, and face to face)
ART203 New Media Art (online)
ART204, 205, 206 Introduction to Art History (online and face to face).
Terms of Employment:
Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
Preference may be given to Chemeketa employees based upon current labor/employment contracts
Employees must maintain Oregon or Washington residency as a condition of employment.
Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Reads, learns, understands, and complies with the expectations set out in the current Faculty Handbook, especially the Teaching and Learning Responsibilities
Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline, prepares and develops materials for assigned classes, provides students and college with course syllabi
Provides a classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery ways (lecture, demonstration, etc.)
Maintains student records of grades and attendance and develops student educational plans
Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques
Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity, and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace
Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning, creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness, encourages creative and critical thinking, actively engages students in the learning process, facilitates learning that is relevant to and enriches students, encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment, clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning, and promotes learning as a life-long process
Performs other related duties as directed

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Art History from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching Art History and Art Appreciation courses.
Experience and willingness to teach traditional, hybrid or online courses.
Experience teaching at a community college
Studio art experience
Evidence of an enthusiastic commitment to college-level teaching including a commitment to student success in writing and critical thinking.
Ability to adapt teaching methods and learning environments to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse community college population.
Sensitivity and competence in working with culturally and linguistically diverse students, faculty and staff.
Ability to work collaboratively on a professional level.
Commitment to professional development including innovations in teaching.
Experience in developing and teaching online courses.

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
