We are currently seeking talented, motivated and ambitious individuals to interview for the position of Assistant Manager at UM Concessions.
The UM Concessions Assistant Manager is a union position supervising all UM Concessions operations including Washington Grizzly Stadium, The Adams Event Center, Dornblaser Track and Field, Softball, and any other location required by Intercollegiate Athletics. In addition to athletic events, UM hosts multiple concerts and flat shows in various locations. This position is responsible for student personnel functions including hiring, scheduling, training and development, shift supervision, evaluation and performance management. This position reports directly to the UM Concessions manager.
The UM Concessions Assistant Manager will train and manage concessions staff in multiple operations, sometimes multiple events. They will order supplies, food and complete monthly inventories. They will assist in setting and maintaining high standards for receiving, producing, serving, holding, presenting and storing all food and beverage items. This position will assist with personnel management for student employees including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management. This position will develop and maintain positive professional relationships with incoming parents and students, Intercollegiate Athletics, The Adams Event Center staff and all guests of concessions operations.
Required Qualifications
Professional management and supervisory experience in a food service environment.
Experience working in a high-volume concessions environment.
Experience with high volume food service operations, equipment and equipment maintenance.
Experience working with college students as employees and guests.
Experience with effectively training employees new to the workforce.
Management ServSafe Certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
Experience with standard food service reports including profit and loss, labor analysis, and annual operating budgets.
Experience in addressing personnel issues and dealing effectively with conflict.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills at a professional level.
Excellent computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, spread sheets, POS, and food management systems like CBORD.
Extensive experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities at this level are typically acquired with a degree in hospitality or food service management or a related field, and/or (3) three years of high-volume concessions work.
Possess a valid driver license.
Ability to work and alternate with an event-based schedule.
Leadership and management experience and training.
Preferred Qualifications
High school graduation and three (3) years related experience. One of those years must be in a high volume, restaurant, coffee, or catering operation.
