Substitute Teacher
Description
In the absence of the teacher, the Substitute Classroom Teacher, Hybrid will provide an appropriate in-person and virtual instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic and personal potential. As well, establishes effective positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents / guardians, and with other staff members.
Job Functions Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
● Assume all responsibilities and duties assigned to the classroom teacher.
● Teach subject areas utilizing course materials adopted by the Board of Education and as determined by need of pupils concerned.
● Collaborate and effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and administration.
● Facilitate in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous instruction in a variety of ways and modalities, including whole-class, individual and small group settings, in order to respond to the needs of students of varying interests and abilities.
● Implement in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous online lessons that promote student engagement and mastery of content standards .
● Create an in-person and online classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
● Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
● Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
● Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information.
● Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities in accordance with assigned responsibilities.
● Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state testing programs.
● May plan and coordinate the work of instructional assistants, and resource volunteers.
● Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required (examples may include but not limited to grading papers, completing attendance procedures, and filling out substitute teacher reports).
● Attend and participate in faculty meetings when serving as a long term substitute.
● Hold parent conferences to discuss individual student progress and school programs when serving as a long-term substitute.
● Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports and report cards when serving as a long-term substitute. Participate in District and school activities such as staff meetings, staff development, and trainings when serving as a long-term substitute.
● Report incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students (e.g. Mandated Reporting, state laws and board policies).
● Perform obligations mandated by laws or Board policy and other duties related to the position.
Requirements Education and Experience
○ Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
○ Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, Multiple Subject, or Single Subject
