Job Description
Under the general direction of the Director of Communications at Thunderbird School of Global Management, this position establishes and maintains Thunderbird’s online social media reputation, researches and identifies trends in digital media, provides regular monitoring, and curates digital content for the School. Works directly with Thunderbird leadership, staff and faculty to develop and expand external outreach via social platforms. Assumes primary responsibility for ensuring strategic and on-brand digital messaging by drafting, editing, and posting copy for social media (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, etc.). This position will also work in collaboration with other university communicators, contribute Thunderbird content to university-wide digital communication efforts, and assist with miscellaneous needs related to the capture of audio/video/photographic content. A successful candidate for this position is a natural communicator with great storytelling abilities and a global mindset. Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.

Essential Duties
Develops and manages social media strategy and content for Thunderbird.
Ensures adherence of all copy to Thunderbird’s brand positioning and strategy messaging across all channels and formats.
Collaborates with faculty to extract meaningful information from which to identify newsworthy digital content.
Prepares and submits reports regarding social media and key performance indicators on a regular basis.
Connects alumni, prospective and current students and others that engage with Thunderbird’s social media with appropriate Thunderbird staff and faculty.
Helps maintain a social media and website content calendar.
Attends events to conduct real-time social media promotion.
Researches trends and innovations in digital marketing.
Researches and develops brand specific and strategic content for targeted distribution over Thunderbird social media channels.
Analyzes social media and web analytics, and helps generate performance reports.
Engages with marketing and communications representatives across ASU academic and business units to source content.
Assists with capturing video/audio/photographic content as needed.
Knowledge of digital marketing principles, practices, and procedures.
Skill in writing and editing for interactive media.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Creates and maintains visible professional presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms.
Utilizes social media monitoring tools and analyzes data to provide detailed analysis documents that trend social media performance.
Monitors the social media landscape and related trends through seminars, research, blogging, etc.
Develops best practices, recommends rules of engagement and innovative initiatives for the use of various digital/social/mobile media.
Researches relevant social media content and keeps up to date with ongoing social media changes and innovations.
Researches and develops brand specific content for posting including items directly related to mission and purpose of Center.
Builds relationships with Thunderbird leadership and others on ASU campus to extend local, national, and global reach of the School.
Strong knowledge of various social media, strong work ethic, professional attitude, and a desire to excel within a start-up environment.
Ability to demonstrate extreme level of professionalism with prospects, customers, internal team members and external collaborators.
Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented.
Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience: OR, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Demonstrated experience in writing and editing online content.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of effective communication skills
Experience in developing effective social media campaigns
Demonstrated knowledge of online platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
Experience working in a higher education and/or executive environment
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of news writing/editing; experience in AP style writing.
Experience working both independently and collaboratively in order to complete tasks.
Experience in business, leadership, and/or management copywriting.
Demonstrated knowledge of SEM copy, social media and email marketing principles.
Working Environment
Applicant must be available as necessary outside of normal business hours for attendance of events to promote content online as necessary.
Activities are performed in an environmentally-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
Employee must possess a valid US driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
