Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Criminology.
Three years of recent professional experience in the criminal justice field, including but not limited to criminal justice, corrections, law enforcement, investigations, homeland security, prison operations and administration etc.
Ability to use technology and develop learning activities in an online, hybrid or web-enhanced environment (knowledge and use of current education technology and tools in the field of criminal studies
Ability to teach a wide variety of courses in the criminal justice, criminology field including but not limited to law enforcement, corrections, courts, probation & parole, white collar crime, forensics and crime scene processing, terrorism and threat management, juvenile justice, criminal justice policy, laws of evidence, drugs and crime, information security, law enforcement management and supervision,  and incident management and assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice/Criminology or Public Administration with concentration in Criminal Justice
Two years teaching experience in the criminal studies or related field.
Recent extensive experience in a variety of subject matter in the field of criminal justice.
Online/distance education teaching experience.
Ability to establish working relationships and partnerships with local law enforcement and governmental agencies.
Experience with Datatel Colleague and/or WebAdvisor.
Experience teaching high school students in an Early College or College and Career Promise environment.
Position Description
Since quality instruction is the primary function of the college, it is the principal responsibility of each instructor to stimulate learning effectively and efficiently in every course.  In addition, each faculty member should provide guidance to students through their role as an academic advisor and in more informal ways. Additionally, each faculty member is expected to participate in the governance of the college through committees and divisional meetings, through shared leadership within and across divisions, through personal recommendations to college administrators, and through participation in the Faculty Council.
Preparation of course materials that address course and program student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate.
Serve as an academic advisor to students in the program
Recommend suitable instructional materials, textbooks and supplemental resources for classroom and online instruction
Engage in approved professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
Project a professional image in the field and form collaborative partnerships with community agencies
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population that represents a wide range of ages and abilities
On-going professional development and engagement with the community in the growth of the programs.
Demonstrated experience and/or classroom strategies for effectively teaching a wide variety of courses with additional responsibilities including curriculum development and/or revision of student learning outcomes, program review; teaching large group instruction; early morning, evening, or weekend classes; and working with community law enforcement and related government entities.
Commitment to the community college open door philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept.
Willingness to participate in public school and university articulation, advisement, and recruitment programs of the College.

The successful candidate must begin work by August 1, 2023.  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and labor market. (Contract is for nine months, but will be paid in 12 equal monthly installments). Excellent references from previous employers must be furnished upon request.
