DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position
POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2022, and/or Spring Semester 2023.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of English consists of 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 23 part-time lecturers and offers the B.A. in English. Serving some 230 undergraduates, the English major consists of a core curriculum and options in British and American Literature, English Language and Literacies, and Creative Writing. A major responsibility of the Department of English is the teaching of writing. We offer all levels of composition, including developmental, freshman, advanced, and online writing courses.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Lecturers are needed to teach stretch college writing (ENGL 100, 101, 103, 104); college writing (ENGL 102, 200), and other writing courses. Openings may also be available for courses in introductory and advanced literature, creative writing, language and applied linguistics. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses.
RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 17, 2022, and Spring Semester begins January 21, 2023.
QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. in English or TESOL and relevant teaching experience is required. Ph.D. or other appropriate terminal degree is desirable.
