General Description of Position:
The AVP of Career Coaching leads training initiatives, provides coaching and consultation to the campus Career Coaches and Executive Directors, serving as a strategic partner to develop strategies and plans to assist students in becoming career ready and completing their Career Development Portfolio. Works collaboratively with campus Chancellors, Executive Directors of Ivy Career Link, and other leaders to develop work plans tied to College metrics and ensure services and products meet and exceed customer and College expectations.
Major Responsibilities:
Partners with Systems Office Vice President of Career Link and AVPs of Employer Connections and Employer and Student Talent Pipeline to build out statewide strategy and plan to meet and exceed related College goals.
Serves as a coach, consultant, and strategic partner to Career Coaches to develop deep understanding and appreciation of student career coaching best practices.
Leads efforts to build awareness of career coaching opportunities at campuses including, but not limited to, building of student Career Development Portfolio. Establishes and oversees statewide teams and work-groups for project or program development and research of best practices.
Develops, consults, reports and analyzes student outcomes data, employment trends, or other pertinent data. Remains current on employment trends and matches those with program opportunities. Develops strategies to attain College and campus metrics on student employment outcomes, and recommends strategies to improve students’ employment outcomes.
Collaborates with Indiana Department of Workforce Development personnel and the College’s executive leadership to identify major skill gaps and plans strategically for Career Coaching best practices. Identifies skill gaps in and plans strategically for workforce readiness in existing and upcoming careers; establishes efficient portals to link job openings with graduates, in collaboration with Career Link Systems Office Team members.
Works with AVP of Employer and Student Talent Pipeline to establish and grow a consistent operational model for the College’s delivery of work-and-learn and other skill-based practicum experiences. Assists to help connect the College’s students with employer work-and-learn experiences, improve student usage of internship placement tools and increases number of students placed in such programs through career coach support and alignment with the Career Development Portfolio.
Secures and/or develops and implements ongoing professional growth, development, and training programs for campus Career Coaches.
Works in collaboration with the Office of Information Technology to identify, implement, and maintain technology solutions that support student and career development and student success. Works to establish baseline tracking and reporting protocols and processes across Career Link staff to illustrate career coaching and Career Development Portfolio outcomes and align with college metrics.
Attends monthly meetings with Workforce and Employers Consultants as needed.
Leads Consultant portion of annual summits and/or retreats.
Leads Statewide Career Coaching Team. Strategizes the development of and advocates for Career Coaching needs in regard to technology and tool support, student engagement, marketing, and alignment with best practices for coaching and career services. Leads or steers working-groups and teams in response to student engagement and staff support needs such as tech and tool platform research and any associated RFP processes.
Responds to inquiries from campus partners such as faculty, and departmental staff outside of Career Link to inform of best practices regarding career coaching models and their development at ITCC.
Works to design, develop and implement a sustainable framework for high quality career coaching as aligned with national standards, and in support of in-house maintenance of Career Link Career Coach training and professional development at ITCC. Works to design and implement (third party certified) Career Coach and/or Career Advising training programs for Ivy Tech as public offerings.
Co-Leads administrative strategy of tech systems for tracking student appointments and records regarding career coaching, and tracking the Career Development Portfolio in collaboration with Systems Office Career Link Team members
Co-Leads strategy for requiring and/or integrating Career Coaching and the Career Development Portfolio at ITCC.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Five (5) years related experience in career development and/or coaching required.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities; excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.
Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.
Ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree.
Proficiency, familiarity, or certifications in standard career assessments such as: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Clifton StrengthsFinder.
