The Montana Safe Schools Center
is seeking a School Support Liaison
to help implement the goals and objectives of the STOP School Violence grant. To specifically initiate, organize, and collaborate with both urban and rural schools in Montana who are seeking support with training and implementing safe school practices. This position will be housed at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in Missoula, MT. The school support liaison will be expected to form collaborate relationships with various school personnel that encompasses the creation and support for the virtual school support teams. Work will be conducted with in the business hours of Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with the exception of travel. Travel is required for this job to help build relationships, recruit partner schools, conduct training and provide technical assistance in the realm of school safety to participating school partners.
The Montana Safe Schools Center is seeking an individual that has experience working with school districts, individual schools, state and federal agencies and Tribes. Work experience should include Montana credentialing as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience in supervision of Master’s level graduate Counselors, Social Workers and Psychologists, working knowledge in implementation of school/clinical counseling practices, coordination/implementation of clinical services, working knowledge of school safety practices, and working with educators on issues of school safety is preferred.
The school support liaison will help provide clinical oversite of the Virtual School Support Team (VSST), oversee matching UM Virtual Support Teams with K-12 schools, scheduling of services, and scheduling of monthly supervision meetings of all UM VSST members, school sites and UM Faculty.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.Salary for this position is $59,000 to $61,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Required Skills
Ability to use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with schools.
Current Montana license as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Supervision experience with Master’s level graduate counselors, social workers and psychologists.
Ability to maintain clinical documents and documentation.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
Experience with successful grant writing and/or other professional/technical writing.
Experience with safe school’s research and criteria.
Ability to create and maintain relationships with schools to support overall school safety.
Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and collaboratively with K-12 schools.
Experience creating and providing professional development workshops, delivering technical assistance, performing consultation and gathering evaluative data.
Strong work ethic and the ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
Required Qualification
Current Montana license as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Experience in implementation of school/clinical counseling practices.
Experience with trauma-informed approaches with in a school system.
Able to travel to and work in communities in very rural locations in Montana and nationally.
Comfortable working with diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in schools.
Advanced degree or certification (e.g., J.D., M.A., Ed.D, Ph.D., teaching certificate, teaching endorsements).
Experience with internet safety.
Experience with suicide prevention.
Experience with bullying prevention.
Experience with crisis response plans/protocols/threat assessment.

Washington College of Education hosts the Montana Safe Schools Center (MSSC) whose mission is to provide outreach regarding school safety; all-hazards management; suicide; bullying; emergency and crisis prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery; and internet safety in early childhood programs, P/K-12 and institutes of higher education.

Safe Schools Center (MSSC) was endorsed by the Superintendent of Montana's Office Public Instruction in 2005 and approved by the Montana University System Board of Regents in 2006. Research has shown that in order to prevent, report, and respond to violence adequately educators and decision makers need access to high quality, up to date school safety resources and adequate opportunities for training and collaboration with other educators, local emergency agencies, mental health personnel, and other professionals (NASP, 2017).
MSSC currently facilitates cooperative efforts between K-12 and higher education in school violence prevention and program evaluation, with a focus thus far on school emergency issues and the latest, evidence-based protocols for addressing childhood mental health needs in a school setting. MSSC has a proven track record of attracting and utilizing funding to engage in successful school safety related training and supports.
We provide training, research, and professional development services to schools and communities across Montana and the U.S. Training topics include -School Emergency Operations Planning, Cybersecurity, Victim Assistance, and Threat Assessment.
