General Description of Position:
The AVP of Career Experiences and Student Talent Connections leads the student talent acquisition strategy for the college; building the framework and strategies to develop intentional employer connections and creative talent pipeline strategies for employer/student mutual benefit. Designs and leads training initiatives, provides coaching and consultation to the campus Talent Connection Managers as a strategic partner to develop strategies and plans to assist students and employers with work-and-learn experiences and employment placement efforts. Works collaboratively with executive leadership, campus Chancellors, Executive Directors of Career Link, Deans and other leaders to develop work plans tied to College metrics and ensure services and products meet and exceed employer, student and College expectations for 19 campus service areas.
Major Responsibilities:
Partners with Systems Office Vice President of Career Link, AVP of Employer Connections and AVP of Career Coaching to build and operationalize statewide career strategy and plan to meet and exceed related College placement outcome metrics and goals.
Builds innovative solutions and start-up processes to enable the achievement of new talent strategy through a focus on building a robust talent acquisition model that attracts state and national employer partners and fosters a culture of engaged students and alumni.
Crafts the design and implementation of diversity recruiting strategies that honor and support employer demands and criterion through collaborative efforts with VP of Diversity Equity and Belonging.
Leads national and statewide employer partnerships in recruitment practices regarding talent acquisition and employer/student engagement experiences.
Strategizes the engagement and recruitment landscape for employer and student connectivity and builds an intentional engagement scaffold that prepares and leads to a work and learn experience and career hire.
Develops customized work and learn frameworks that meet the business needs of national and statewide employer partners, including micro and virtual internships.
Serves as coach, consultant, and strategic partner to Talent Connection Managers to develop deep understanding and appreciation of consultative sales and business development practices, that focus on intentional efforts in engaging employers directly in recruitment and placement of College’s students.
Collaborates and partners with Industry Sector VPs to identify and develop key outreach sourcing initiatives to ensure a consistent pipeline of employer opportunities for students in high-demand careers.
Leads efforts to build awareness of career work-and-learn opportunities at campuses and with employers, including, but not limited to, such areas as internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, and other work-and-learn constructs.
Analyzes, consults, and reports placement outcome data, wages and employment trends to make informed decisions on career readiness tools and new employer connections matching state’s high-wage, high-demand sectors
Provides outcomes for key stakeholders including investors, state agencies and other government partners to demonstrate cutting edge practices and brand value.
Leads, collaborates, influences, and leverages corporate partners, government, statewide and national agencies in the definition and build of work-based learning programs and experiences that support Ivy Tech students: CHE, Work Learn Indiana, CAEL, Indiana Chamber, Employ Indy, Ascend, OWBLA, DWD, Work One.
Serves as the Career Link statewide lead regarding work-based learning with Indiana State Personnel Department, Department of Workforce Development, Legislative Services and other government agencies related to career development and job placement opportunities for the College’s students.
Leads on-going efforts with (CHE) as part of a statewide committee to define and establish relevant work and learn experience definition as per state compliance for accredited Institutions.
Supports campus Executive Directors of Career Link in staff selection through role competency identification and interview participation.
Stewards the development of new SO Career Link staff (Systems, Training, and Innovation Manager) to improve technology and processes that support, track, and validate the employer and student work and learn experience and placement outcome.
Stewards the development of Systems Office Career Link interns through robust onboarding, project identification, weekly updates and reflections, and identified skill enhancements.
Drives technology solutions to validate steps for authenticating a co-curricular work and learn experience between employer/student.
Designs creative strategy to develop employer Achieve Your Degree (AYD) program into work and learn experiences that support and enhance employer retention efforts.
Co-designs, organizes and delivers professional development trainings for newly onboarded campus Career Link staff- 19 campuses.
Designs and executes marketing initiatives to highlight and socialize work and learn and placement efforts: dedicated intern webpage and National Intern Day participation.
Co-leads the redesign of new Career Link web-page to market and support career development practices including work and learn placement efforts, job board connectivity, and employer relations.
Creates resource toolkits designed to support and guide staff/faculty; students; and employers in developing work and learn experiences.
Support systems office AVP of Career Coaching for increased employer insights and resources to support student awareness and engagement with employers.
Remains current on employment trends and matches those with program opportunities.
Designs realistic and attainable role metrics to guide student placement outcomes and steer accountability of campus teams in meeting college goals including recommendation strategies to improve outcomes.
Serves as the Career Link statewide lead regarding work-based learning collaborations with Indiana Office of Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship, Department of Workforce Development, Commission for Higher Education, Indiana State Personnel Department and other government agencies related to career development and job placement opportunities for the College’s students.
Builds and scales a consistent operational model for the College’s delivery of work-and-learn opportunities and other skill-based practicum experiences through mapping of standard operating procedures and design of work and learn playbook.
Fosters synergy and collaborations with The Office of the Provost to connect coursework to work and learn experiences with new career development portfolio to improve student usage of related tracking and placement tools: creates centralized repository to record all college work and learn experiences.
Works with the Provost and VP of Academic Affairs on alignment of created work and learn terms and definitions resource for ASOM policy; guiding staff, students, and employers in the selection and expectation of career experience opportunities.
Partners with the Office of Information Technology to identify innovative technology solutions through vendor identification and integration that supports employers in talent connection and acquisition and students in career development success.

SUPERVISION GIVEN: Dotted Line supervision to 27 (and growing) Talent Connection Managers on 19 campuses statewide. Dotted Line supervision of Career Link Systems Office Systems, and Training and Innovation Manage.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities; excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.
Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.
Ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project required.
