Work Schedule

Office hours: M-F, 8:15-4:30. Peer Coaches work 15 hours each week within the Student Success Hub office hours. Depending on COVID restrictions, some hours may be completed remotely.

Must be able to attend training August 8th-12th and August 15th, 2022 (8:30am-4:30pm each day).

Must be able to work Northern Exposure: Orientation on August 18th-20th.

Job Description

Peer Coaches work with first-year students to help support their transition to the university. Peer Coaches also work closely with Pathfinders and Exploratory majors, assisting with major exploration and academic success skills.

Primary Responsibilities

Within the First-Year Student Succes Hub, Peer Coaches will support the transition to the university for new students in all Colleges. Peer Coaches will also work with Exploratory students and Pathfinders on major exploration and academic success skills.

Peer Coaches will also serve as liaisons to 1-2 UNV 101 classes, attending class in-person each week. Peer Coaches will participate in class discussion and occasionally present.

Additional responsibilities may include social media management and assisting with new student orientation.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a 3.0 GPA or higher and sophomore standing by the end of spring semester (including at least two semesters at NKU). The selected candidates will be asked to make at least a two semester commitment to working in this role.

Ideal qualifications include a positive attitude about NKU, involvement in campus activities, and a desire to help new students. Must possess strong communication, technology and time management skills.

Student must be very organized, detail-oriented, responsible and able to work in a professional environment. All interested students must fill out an online student employment application.
