Job Description
Position Summary:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (USF) invites applications for the position of Assistant Research Professor. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting and managing research projects for nutrient management funded by the U.S. EPA, developing research proposals, writing research papers for publication, and training graduate students involved in the funded projects. Although research is the primary responsibility for this position, candidates will also have the opportunity to teach on a voluntary basis and further their career through collaborations with USF faculty.
The CEE Department at USF (****has twenty-three (23) tenure-track/tenured faculty members, two (2) instructors, five (5) supporting faculty from the Center for Urban Transportation (CUTR), three (3) staff members, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, serving nearly 250 undergraduates, 125 masters, and 70 PhD students. Our new BS program in Environmental Engineering just started admitting undergraduates in Fall 2021. Our Environmental Engineering graduate program was ranked 38th nationally and 23rd among US public universities by US News & World Report (2021). Established in 1964 and currently led by Dean Robert H. Bishop, the College of Engineering at USF is ranked #61 among public institutions (#98 overall) by U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 engineering graduate school rankings. The college serves more than 6,000 students, offering eleven BS programs, seven ABET-accredited, as well as 12 MS and eight doctoral degrees. The College is actively engaged in research with $34.1million in research expenditures for fiscal year 2019-2020. The College has 12 major research centers and institutes and is actively engaged in local and global research activities focused on sustainability, biomedical engineering, computing technology and transportation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of academic research achievement, or professional qualifications in the field of specialization above those which would be equivalent to the highest degree. Must meet university criteria for appointment which is equivalent to that required of the rank of Assistant Professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctoral degree in civil or environmental engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, computer science or a related field, a record of high impact peer-reviewed journal publications, prior experience with nutrient management technologies or physical, chemical, and/or biological process for managing non-point nutrient sources, and excellent communication skills.
