JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates the duties of the Technical Assistants to include phlebotomy and specimen receiving.  Coordinates computer functions required to process specimens and generate reports.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
Coordinates the duties of the Technical Assistants.
Coordinates the day to day operation of phlebotomy and specimen receiving to ensure all client needs are met.
Coordinates the training of all new employees, ensuring the new employee checklist is completed in a timely manner.
Can perform all functions of Technical Assistant.
 
 
Coordinates clerical functions required to process specimens and generate reports.
       Performs registration and billing functions for all patient types.        Demonstrates knowledge of computer functions required to receive, process, distribute and track all types of         specimens.
       Accurately orders laboratory test for all types of patients.
       Dispatches, logs and tracks calls for client specimen pickup.
       Pick up specimens collected at all clients; perform the duties of a lab courier as needed.
       Keeps abreast of department policies/procedures pertaining to specimen collection, processing          and distribution.
       Assists medical technologist as needed.
       Performs other related duties as assigned.
       Assist during emergency situations according to hospital policy.
       Maintains a safe and amicable work environment.
 
Coordinates supplies and equipment to facilitate delivery of service.
Fills supplies for clients within a reasonable turn-around time.
Assist with restocking supplies in stockroom.
Reports any shortages to necessary personnel.
 
 ','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education: High school diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalent.     
 
Experience: At least three (3) years phlebotomy experience and two (2) years SVHS Laboratory experience.        
 
Physical Requirements: This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 10-50 pounds of force.
 
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform daily activities.
 
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to chemicals), and infectious diseases.
 
Skills: Demonstrated competency of Technical Assistant duties.  Must possess working knowledge of medical terminology.  Possess demonstrated leadership ability.  Demonstrates the ability to represent the hospital to all clients in a positive and empathetic manner.  Must have the ability to meet/exceed the SVHS Guest Relations expectations.  ','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
