Culinary Professional I/Sanitation Technician
at the Food Zoo. This position is responsible for, amongst other duties, the safe and sanitary operation of the Food Zoo dish room, including the training and supervision of student and temporary staff. This position requires incumbent to be ServSafe certified or possess ability to become certified within one (1) year of employment, and the ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands.

Key responsibilities of this position:
Train and supervise student dishroom staff
Provide accurate and skillful dishroom and kitchen cleaning
Provide outstanding guest service
Provide quantity food preparation and service when required and receives deliveries from vendors
Clean and sanitize equipment and assists with inventories
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers
Contribute to the success of UMD as an active member of the UMD Team and embrace the philosophies of the UMD Performance Planning Program
Required Skills
Ability to communicate and work with a variety of clients
Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one (1) year of employment
Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member.
Ability to lift materials from floor level to table height, which requires mobility and some physical demands, and work in an environment with noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience using numerous pieces of standard food service equipment
Working knowledge and experience in food service
Experience with training and supervisory practices and procedures
Valid Montana driver’s license at the time of employment
