HCC offers both programming and information systems courses leading to Associate of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems. This position requires the candidate to demonstrate the ability to teach successfully, practice excellent communication skills with all colleagues, faculty and students, demonstrate proficient technology skills, show a strong commitment to teaching excellence, have demonstrable interest in innovative achievement, and commitment to the community college mission. Successful candidates will demonstrate leadership competency. Teaching responsibilities include day and evening courses.
Position responsibilities include teaching beginning through advanced programming classes using Java, C Sharp, Python, Linux, UNIX and others. In addition the successful candidate will steer program strategy, develop curriculum and implement outcome assessment. Additional responsibilities include engaging and advising students, writing syllabi with course expectations and objectives, timely grading of course work, submitting required reports, and participating in college and community responsibilities.
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications include a background in Computer Science and Information Systems and a demonstrated ability to teach in these fields. A master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or a related field is required. College level teaching experience is preferred. Experience in both business and programming is preferred. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Visual Basic .Net, and Java. Coding and networking experience are a plus.
