General Description of Position:
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities:
• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
A qualified faculty member in kinesiology meets the program standard through one of two routes:
1. Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in kinesiology or subfield of kinesiology or public health;
or
2. Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field, with 18 graduate semester hours in one or a combination of the following disciplines: kinesiology, biophysics, biology, and anatomy and physiology
Qualifications for specific courses: EXER 114, 117
A qualified faculty member for EXER 114, and 117, meets the course standard through one
of two routes:
1. Meets the Kinesiology and Exercise Science discipline standard,
or
2. Has
both
of the following:
Possesses one of the following health fitness related certifications,
o ACSM – American College of Sports Medicine
o NSCA – National Strength and Conditioning Association
o NASM – National Academy of Sports Medicine
o ACE – American Council on Exercise
and
Has five years of professional experience in a kinesiology-related setting that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the courses in the Curriculum of Record
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants must be able to teach on campus and be able/willing to teach using Canvas and other technology such as Zoom.
Applicants looking to teach EXER 117-Fitness Management - we would also prefer applicants who also have management experience in the day to day operations of a fitness center.

EXER 114 - Physical Conditioning and Strength Training: 16-wk course, meets Tues & Thur 11-12:50pm Aug - Dec.
EXER 120 - Recreation Sports: first 8-wk course (Aug-Oct), meets Mon & Wed 11-1:50pm
EXER 117 Fitness Management: 2nd 8-wk course (Oct - Dec), meets Mon & Wed 11-1:50pm
Hiring Range:
$45.00 per contact hour
