General Description of Position:
Responsible for providing general library support in such areas as technical service, reference, circulation, and basic computer support. Requires some evening and weekend hours.
Major Responsibilities:
Customer Service Overriding Expectation
* Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.
* Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.
* Go beyond the easiest or surface answer for a student, or an internal or external customer, and get to the root cause of the problem, question or issue to solve it as quickly and professionally as possible.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Provide routine office administration and clerical support.
* Assist users with library resources in both print and electronic formats including books and library databases.
* Provide basic computer support including Campus Connect, Windows Office, email, and internet applications.
* Perform routine technical service and circulation duties.
* Perform administrative and secretarial duties in support of the Assistant Library Director and Library Director
* Answer the telephone transmitting requested information to appropriate personnel
* Create and maintain detailed records as required, file and record information
* Prepare financial documents such as requisitions for library resources and supplies and insure completion within the required time parameters.
* Research pricing and set up new vendor accounts
* Order, duplicate, etc. library materials as needed to keep supplies and units fully stocked.
* Provide guidance to part-time assistants and work studies

Minimum Qualifications:
* Associates Degree in a related field.
* Proficient at typing and computer skills; knowledge of various software packages (such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, Adobe PageMaker, PowerPoint) and modern office technology.
* Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
* Ability to work as a team member, to work under stress, and to process information quickly.
* Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Associates Degree in Library Technical Assistant or Bachelor's degree
* Three years of library work experience
* Strong customer service skills and knowledge of professional library practices
