All university supervisors for the UMW Division of Education
All P-12 mentor teachers for the UMW Division of Education
Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Coordinate all Education field placements
Facilitate the licensure process
Serve as instructor of record for all sections of student teaching
Provide support and information to students preparing for and during supervised teaching
Secure excellent field placements through impeccable communication with school partners
Identify and train university supervisors and ECE coaches
Track evaluation data for students in the field
Communicate all licensing requirements and changes to teacher candidates and Education faculty
Facilitates field experience aims, procedures, and policies in conjunction with field experience personnel across UMW programs
Guide compliance with accreditation standards, as well as MUS and UMW policies as they apply to field experience
Coordinate support and remediation for students experiencing difficulties in the field through the Student Review and Support Committee
Write and monitor partnership agreements with school partners, both in Montana and out of state
Work closely with school partners to create mutually beneficial solutions to teacher shortages
Co-instructor (1 credit) for EDU 494A: Teacher Work Sample
Participate in workgroups for grading the UMW Education Division Teacher Work Sample
Oversee supervised teaching budget
Serve as University Supervisor for two student teachers per semester
Approve all supervision-related travel and expenses
Support students in registering and preparing for licensure exams
Assist in the development of UMW procedures and policies surrounding candidate assessment and program progression
Represent UMW on the PRAXIS Working Committee
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Three or more years of successful teaching in K-12 schools
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work well with students and faculty
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Education
Holds a valid teaching license
Strong working understanding of the K-12 school systems of Montana and/or other states
Team oriented
Ability to problem solve quickly
Ability to be flexible and responsive
Committed to academic excellence, continuous improvement, equity, diversity, and inclusive practices
DOJ background check training
Office of Public Instruction teacher licensure training
