The College of Business at University of Montana
is seeking to fill the position of
Director of the UM Entertainment Management (UMEM)
program starting August, 2023. The Director of UMEM is a tenure track position in management or marketing, and in addition to directing the program, expectations include teaching at the undergraduate and master’s levels, maintaining an active research agenda, and engaging in professional and service activities.

Required Qualifications
PhD. in management, marketing, or a similar field (e.g., hospitality management, sports management, entertainment management) from a school accredited by AACSB International prior to the starting date of employment.
Demonstrated potential to publish or recent peer-reviewed journal publications in fields of expertise and an active, ongoing research agenda.
Demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the following courses: entertainment management, event management, or venue management.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards.
Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans).
Relevant business experience in entertainment, hospitality, or tourism related industries
Demonstrated ability to engage the business community
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Reporting to the Chair of the Management & Marketing Department, the primary responsibilities of the Director of UMEM are:
Arrange part-time faculty to teach UMEM courses
Organize internships, other experiential learning opportunities, and professional development opportunities for students
Produce at least one show, event, or performance per year.
Manage the program budget
Represent the program within the college, university, and community
Develop and foster a positive relationship with the UMEM board and other industry partners
Appointment to the rank of associate professor requires research publications and years of teaching service at an AACSB accredited institution commensurate with the rank of associate professor. Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
