ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
This project is funded through a grant from the Florida Department of Education and is administratively housed in the Department of Psychological and Social Foundations, of the College of Education, on the Tampa campus of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. The Department houses five academic areas: College Student Affairs, Counselor Education, and School Psychology, which are graduate-degree programs, and Educational Psychology and Social Foundations of Education, which are academic support programs, but do not offer degrees. The Department includes approximately 25 faculty, plus a Department Chair on the Tampa campus, as well as several faculty on the Lakeland and Sarasota campuses. The Department offers courses directly relating to its degree-granting programs, as well as courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for students across the University.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Collaborate with Problem Solving/RtI and FLPBS staff to provide professional development, coaching, modeling, demonstrations, technical assistance, and support for the provision of assistive technology (AT), instructional technology (IT), universal design for learning (UDL), accessible instructional materials (AIM), and virtual instruction/assessment (VI/A) within a problem solving framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Problem Solving/RtI and FLPBS staff to provide professional development, coaching, modeling, demonstrations, technical assistance, and support for the provision of assistive technology (AT), instructional technology (IT), universal design for learning (UDL), accessible instructional materials (AIM), and virtual instruction/assessment (VI/A) within a problem solving framework.
Collaborate with Problem Solving/RtI and FLPBS staff to identify, evaluate, and/or develop professional development modules and materials/resources on AT, IT, UDL, AIM, and VI/A within a problem solving framework to strengthen district capacity to deliver effective instruction to at-risk and accelerated students and students with disabilities; provide advanced training with district-based leadership teams, schools teams, district personnel, and BEESS discretionary project personnel on the use of technology to improve the effectiveness of instruction; and to provide technology support for the delivery of professional development, technical assistance and training around issues related to infusion of technology into curriculum and PS/RtI.
Maintain current knowledge of research and innovations in the areas of AT, IT, UDL, AIM, and VI/A, and develop content for primary information dissemination channels, to include print, digital (digital documents, CD, DVD, etc.) and web-based media.
Conduct regional meetings with FDLRS Statewide Project staff, FDLRS Associate Center staff, LATS/RLATS, and teachers on the provision and support of professional development and regional/local activities to strengthen school and district capacity in the use of AT, IT, UDL, AIM, and VI/A within a problem solving framework to improve the effectiveness of instruction.
Maintain and facilitate the use of online virtual meeting spaces and virtual 3D immersive environments for the delivery of professional development, coaching, modeling, demonstration, technical assistance, and support activities.
Maintain, transport, and set-up a variety of model hands-on technology demonstration labs at various state, regional, and local functions.
Travel to all assigned national, state, regional, and local project activities.
Supervise the operation of regional AT/UDL loan libraries and satellite labs with regional loan library specialists and lab contacts, to include the identification of appropriate equipment, materials, and resources for loan, as well as data collection on use and outcomes.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least one year of experience in a professional training position. A Master's degree in Communication, Education, Adult Education, or related field is preferred. Certain grants and programs may also have specific education and/or certification requirements specific to the subject matter area of the program.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience in the use of assistive and instructional technology for students with disabilities in an educational setting; evidence of highly effective presentation and professional development implementation skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED:
Doctorate Degree in Technology, Communication, Education, or a related field; experience in the use of AT, IT, UDL, AIM, and VI/A for students with disabilities; experience in assessing student skills using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools; ability to facilitate groups of Educators through the change process to achieve consensus; familiarity with policies and operation of PK-12 schools in the state of Florida.
Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Speech & Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapy.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Experience using a variety of assistive technologies. Certification in Assistive Technology.
