ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The School of Information Technology confers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology (PhD-IT). The SoIT has been growing at 18% annually and currently serves more than 1,200 students with 26 full-time faculty members, 19 full-time staff, and 30 part-time faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Civic Technology Center. The SoIT is a diverse, interdisciplinary, team-oriented, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. ABOUT THE JOB
The School of Information Technology seeks to hire an Assistant Director - Academic - Graduate Programs.

 

The principle workload assignment of this position will be to support graduate students in the SoIT Master's and PhD programs and SoIT undergraduate students enrolled in its accelerated programs. The position serves on several cross functional teams, including Graduate Education, Operations, and Online Education. Furthermore, the position represents the SoIT to the College and the University to support graduate and accelerated students.

JOB OVERVIEW
Under general supervision from the Graduate Director and the School Head, the Assistant Director - Academic will support and advise our Graduate programs. The essential functions will include advising graduate students and managing program events and initiatives in relation to the graduate programs. This position requires collaborative effort with various personnel across the University, including but not limited to College advising and recruitment staff, UC Online staff, partner faculty and staff in the accelerated programs, and the UC Graduate Office. This position will serve on the Operations cross functional team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Support the graduate programs within SoIT (Master's and PhD) *Advise graduate students on degree completion requirements *Review and process admission decisions for graduate programs *Manage and process scholarships to eligible recipients *Communicate with graduate students on important deadlines and information *Collaborate with UC Online staff to support SoIT online graduate students *Collaborate with CECH recruitment and advising teams for the graduate programs *Serve as a liaison to the UC International office, Graduate School, Registrar's office, and other University departments as needed *Assist with data collection for the Graduate programs and for ranking submissions *Lead the IT Accelerated Program Committees *Create and lead study tours for Accelerated Students *Implement policies and procedures and maintain the SoIT graduate handbook *May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff *Perform related duties based on departmental need
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Academic positions will require specific educational credentials and experience related to the program for which the position is responsible.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Mission-driven *Self-motivated *Degree at the bachelor or master's levels preferred *Experience working within academic setting *Experience in program management is preferred *Experience in advising graduate or undergraduate students in a research university
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
