Positioned 201-250 in the THE World Subject Ranking for Business and Economics, Plymouth Business School is both ambitious and forward-looking. In this regard, the School has recently completed a comprehensive revisioning exercise of its teaching provision, focused on providing a high-quality ‘2030 business education experience’ which is designed from the perspective of students who aim to function in a global labour market. We are seeking to appoint a Professor to come and join the Plymouth Business School team. You will have an outstanding academic track record with a publication and research funding profile that demonstrates an internationally excellent standing in your field (such as Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Economics, International Shipping, Logistics and Operations, and Tourism and Hospitality). You will be a research-leader, demonstrating both personal research excellence, and the potential to drive forward the International agenda of the School and Faculty. You will also possess proven experience in academic leadership and in the formulation of strategy and the translation of strategy to action. As part of your position you will also take on the role of Associate Dean International (ADI) with the post holder offering dynamic leadership across all aspects of the Faculty’s Internationalisation agenda. As an experienced academic you will have a track record in international excellence and have clear ideas about developing overseas teaching and research opportunities and activities within disciplines within the Faculty but which might also benefit the University and the wider sector. You will possess leadership skills to include demonstrable evidence in influencing and engaging colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels. The role of ADI works at Senior Leadership level as part of the University’s Senior Leadership community, collaborating with Faculties and Services to enable innovation and action against a shared vision. Alongside your responsibilities as ADI you will have a teaching/research/enterprise portfolio, to be agreed within your workload allocation for sustained performance. The ADI role will be workloaded for 0.5 FTE of your full time contract for 3 years initially, at which point you will move to be full time in your substantive professor position. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. Flexible working options including job share will be considered.
