POSITION SUMMARY
An adjunct community college instructor is an instructor hired for one semester to teach one or more courses for which he/she is qualified to teach. The adjunct instructor reports to the appropriate Instructional Coordinator and/or Department Chair; provides quality instruction for the assigned courses. The instructor works with full-time faculty in assessing students and following all course guidelines. Willingness to teach at other campus sites is required. Adjunct instructors may submit preferences for locations and loads. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. adjunct faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach classes in appropriate instructional area.
2. Participate in annual student and chair/coordinator evaluations.
3. Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments, and other established processes.
4. Attend classes regularly; return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner; effectively communicate with appropriate staff and chair.
5. Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations.
6. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate officials.
7.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Commit to furthering the mission, goals, and core values of the college at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Computer Science, Information Systems, Mass Communications, or Digital Communications
2. Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction in the field of web design, social media, and/or web accessibility.
3. Applicable and working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Bootstrap Knowledge of the implications and impact of social media integration into the workplace.
4. Experience in teaching higher education courses, at the collegiate level. Experience in teaching online courses.
5. Experience in using/developing courses using course management programs, such as Canvas.
6. Demonstrate commitment to teaching and learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Working knowledge of JavaScript, jQuery, other scripting languages
2. Applicable professional experience in web design, web content specialist, disability services, web /document/digital accessibility, or a related field. Working knowledge of the following laws, compliance standards, languages: ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WAI, WCAG, WAI-ARIA, HTML5, CSS3, and similar technologies.
3. Application and working knowledge of how to convert and build fully accessible documents within Microsoft, Google, Adobe, and other similar word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, including PDFs, EPUBs, and similar electronic publication platforms.
4. Application and working knowledge of various screen readers, assistive technologies, and accessibility validators such as SiteImprove and/or WAVE. Fluent in the technology used to develop content management systems (CMS) based websites and web applications.
5. Platforms include Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, etc. Industry certifications such as: IAAP-CAP, IAAP-CPACC, WAS, SEO, etc.
6. Fluency in the techniques and tools used to enhance and identify successful dissemination of online content for all persons, including those who are visually, audibly, physically, and/or cognitively challenged.
7. Fundamental knowledge on the implications and advantages regarding the historical-to-present day use of technology in the workplace.
8. Knowledge of the implications and impact of social media integration into the workplace.
9. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
10. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
11. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
12. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
