Beaver Country Day School— an independent day school located just outside of Boston, serving grades 6-12— seeks a creative, innovative, and forward-thinking Upper School Spanish Teacher . This is a full-time position for the 2022-2023 school year that will report directly to the Head of the Modern Languages Department and the Director of the Upper School. Courses are theme-based. Currently this position includes courses titled “Art and Society,” “The Spanish-Speaking World,” and “Intro to Storytelling.” Competitive candidates will demonstrate the following skills and mindsets: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish Knowledge in differentiated instruction and assessment Experience using CI, TPRS, and/or authentic resources Willingness and ability to design curriculum Willingness to collaborate on and implement innovative pedagogical initiatives that focus on student-first, hands-on, experiential learning Willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice practices and commitment to ongoing growth in this area   Responsibilities: Teach Spanish sections across different levels and thematic topics. Design engaging, student-centered lessons across a variety of themes. Actively participate in the work of the Modern Languages Department including innovative curriculum development, project-based learning, and assessment Collaborate and plan with colleagues within course teams, in the Modern Languages department, and in other departments Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning Post resources, feedback, and assignments to the LMS in a timely manner Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents/guardians Provide frequent, constructive, objective, and prompt feedback to students Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community Actively participate in professional learning opportunities Remain knowledgeable of current instructional and curriculum trends Seek and constructively use professional feedback Model organization and preparation to meet all professional responsibilities reliably Advise or co-advise a group of 6-8 students Other responsibilities as assigned   Additional things to know:  We take cleaning and building safety seriously.
